I had been wanting to go to Abu Dhabi ever since Carrie Bradshaw and the Sex and The City gang visited on Sex and The City II. Here are the 9 best things for girls to do in Abu Dhabi, so that you can get the local but also the glam experience so many of us dreamt of ever since watching our fave TV gang!!
8. Stay at Four Seasons Abu Dhabi.
Perfectly located, a 5 min walk away from the mall in case you want to do some fancy shoping (personally, I ran into Zara to buy some slip dresses to wear under my kaftans as I realised they were quite see-through when on the light oops!), FS Abu Dhabi is huge and glamorous. The hotel looks like a palace itself, every area beautifully decorated and decadent in its own.
8. Watch the skyline from the bar/ pool area.
Day or evening, the views of the city are stunning! I especially loved seeing it at night while listening to live music and sipping on incredibly delicious cocktails!!
7. Have a fancy afternoon tea (but also go to the Chicago Butcher restaurant for steak & cake).
I love me a girly, beautiful afternoon tea with champagne and cake; but the steak restaurant at Four Seasons Abu Dhabi was unforgettable! I was especially blown away by their cakes, just watch my YouTube video at the end and see what I mean!
6. Visit a local market.
Go and try some local food and bargain for beautiful, colourful finds. Although it’s a must, unfortunately we didn’t have time to do so, but I’ve heard is a fabulous activity to do with the girls and an excuse for dressing up…. Or to run into your Aidan?!
5. Visit the Emirates Palace.
Also called the red palace, you can visit the hotel without being a guest. However, most importantly, the outside view is stunning. On one side you have the palace and on the other an incredible view of the modern buildings of the city.
4. Visit Qasr Al Watan
The ‘white palace’ Qasr Al Watan, only a 5 min drive from the red one, is a Middle Eastern landmark which embraces the culture, traditions, and history of the area. Breathtakingly beautiful, the Arabian palace will not only mesmerise you but also educate you.
3. Embrace your inner princess Jasmine at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
The largest mosque in the country, Sheikh Zayed is imposing from every angle. Its architecture is one of a kind. Although it can sometimes be overcrowded with tourists, I think it’s so worth it visiting both at day and night, especially if you love photography!
2. Go on a desert adventure
We went on a 4×4 adventure full of adrenaline, it was so much fun!! It was really funny and a little bit scary (although not really as it is super safe!) but something incredible to do and to never forget, especially when watching that unbeatable sunset!!
1. Watch the stars, dances, and get some henna.
After our desert safari-like experience organised by Four Seasons, we had a beautiful traditional dinner in the open desert while watching the stars, belly dancers, traditional incredible dances, and getting our henna done.
