"Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose." Lauren Hutton
Fall season has finally arrived and I’m so super excited to start swapping floaty dresses and cutsie playsuits for sumptuous coats, jumper dresses and swanky boots! It’s time to start thinking about getting my next season aesthetic in order. I’ve been recently eyeing all the A/W19 trends and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many varied, vast and "very much going to suit any style" trends, whatever that may be!
Whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist, this is an epic time for you! If you like colour, great. If you hate colour, fabulous! Want to dress like you’re permanently at a party? You got it! From OTT prints to blinding sparkle, fancy puffers, feathers, retina-searing colours and seemingly endless ruffles this is A/W19 for you!
Scroll down to get prepped on what we’ll all be wearing this sassy season.
1. UNAPOLOGETC PRINTS
Prints are more extra than ever, think clashing checks, unapologetic vibrant florals and argyle knits with full floral looks.
2. GIANT BAGS
After seasons spent cramming essential items into the teeniest, tiniest totes come autumn/winter statement bags are back on trend!
This is probably one of the most useful trends of the season, for once, you will be able to house everything you need.
3. TIERED RUFFLES
I warned you that you might have to brace yourself… one low-key ruffle is simply not enough this season. We are looking into the 1920s lampshade style for our evening wear inspo. Make sure to keep your hair pulled back for maximum gown-impact.
4. HEAD TO TOE BROWN & BEIGE OUTERWEAR
SS19 was all about all variety of beige/brown tones, fast forward a few months and that same base shade gets an upgrade via sweeping midi coats and sumptuous suits.
There is no denying that not-so-boring after all beige and brown is everywhere again. This neutral colour palette is an easy one to adopt and a trend that will most definitely stand the test of time. Best worn in multiple shades of the hue and loose tailoring is the way forward.
5. POINTED TOES
This season’s footwear focus is all about the pointed toe shoes, the shoes that can single-handedly transform an entire look.
6. OTT FLUFF
Undoubtedly the most prominent trend to come out of the autumn/winter 2019 shows was feathers. Whether you go full Black Swan or just opt for an accessory, there’s no denying there’ll be some element of feathers in your wardrobe this season.
7. SEASONAL SPARKLE
The sparkles trend has never been stronger, but unlike last year’s sexy, almost predictable takes on the trend, this season, sequins undertake a slightly more thoughtful aesthetic. From draped dresses to fringing and portraiture, Christmas-party-dressing looks set to be a whole lot more interesting.
